Lim Young-min first gained attention in 2017 as a contestant on Mnet’s Produce 101 Season 2, quickly rising in popularity thanks to his talent and charm. Following the show, he debuted in the project duo MXM alongside fellow trainee Kim Dong-hyun, under Brand New Music.

In May 2019, Lim Young-min debuted as the leader of AB6IX, a five-member boy group that saw early success both domestically and internationally. However, his career took a sudden turn in June 2020, when he voluntarily left the group following a DUI (drunk driving) incident, just over a year after debut.

After taking time away from the public eye and completing his mandatory military service, Lim Young-min resumed his career as a solo artist in 2023, releasing music and reconnecting with fans through smaller projects and performances.
